So here's the setup: We're from Ohio but live in California now. Many of Meredith's friends and family, including her two grandkids, live in either Ohio or Illinois. Most of my friends and family live in Ohio.
My buddy, Jon, who lives in Ohio, had a nice older Tacoma for sale and I wanted to buy it. This became the impetus for a whirlwind 3 day trip that would involve flying to Ohio, meeting up with friends and family that I hadn't seen in a few years, buying the truck, and then hauling ass across the US nonstop to get back to California in time for work three days later.
To make it more interesting, Meredith flew out ahead of me to spend an extra week with her family. She arrived in Chicago, rented a car, hung out with her mom and aunt for a while, then drove from Chicago to Dover Ohio and hung out with her kids and grandkids.
The plan was for me to fly to Ohio, grab the truck, have breakfast with some buds, meet up with Meredith, hang out with her kids and grandkids for a minute, caravan to my parents house, have lunch with them, caravan to Chicago, turn in the rental, hang out with Mer's family for a bit, pick up some crap from her mom's house, and then drive the rest of the way from Chicago to Eureka nonstop.
I chronicled the trip via some cell phone pics.
First pic! This commuter plane was my transportation from Arcata (ACV) California to San Francisco (SFO). It was surprisingly comfortable, and despite the plethora of white kids with dreadlocks, it didn't smell too badly of patchouli.
